About Us - The Project Maths Development Team
Who Are We?
We are the team of experienced teachers of mathematics recruited to provide professional development support to post-primary teachers of mathematics across the country as part of Project Maths.
Our team was first established in 2008 to provide support to the 24 schools involved in the development and piloting of the curriculum. The initial team of National Coordinator and 6 Regional Development Officers has since been expanded to provide support as part of the national roll-out of the programme of professional development. We are now a team of 17 - 1 National Coordinator, 1 Assistant National Coordinator and 15 RDOs.
We are a growing team as recently we have been joined by a group of 60 Local Facilitators who will work with us to provide additional and complementary support to teachers of mathematics through the national network of Education Centres.
What do we do?
We provide a range of professional development supports to approximately 6,000 Post-Primary teachers of mathematics. Supports include the facilitation of workshops, the development of resources to support both teachers and students, the provision of modular courses in ICT and content and the creation and maintenance of web based support.
PMDT is a highly collaborative project and we are fortunate to work closely with the NCCA, the National Centre for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching and Learning Centre, University of Limerick, the Irish Maths Teachers Association and the National Centre for Technology in Education amongst others.
