What is project Maths

Project Maths

Project Maths is designed to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics in 24 pilot second level schools in Ireland. The participating mathematics teachers will develop existing good practice in the classroom through “Teaching and Learning Plans” and lead change in the teaching and learning of mathematics for understanding.

Duration and Processes

A continuous professional development programme for all mathematics teachers has been established with the participating pilot schools. For the academic year ’08-’09 three suites of Workshops for Strand 1(Probability and Statistics) and Strand 2(Geometry and Trigonometry) and school visits that complement work done at workshops are provided. The project team engage with teams of mathematics teachers from the 24 Project Maths schools at Workshops and school visits to build core classroom teaching and learning competencies.
