Appendix 1: Geometry course for post-primary school mathematics.
Common First Year Syllabus.
The NCCA has devised a common first year syllabus. It is expected that all first year students complete this syllabus as part of their first year course. It should be noted that this is a minimum requirement and teachers are free to exceed the recommendations as set out in this document.
Junior Certificate Teacher Guidelines.
The different parts of the Guidelines are likely to be used in different ways. The initial parts offer a general orientation and invite reflection on the purposes of mathematics education in the junior cycle. The next sections provide a resource for the day-to-day work of mathematics teaching: a compendium of ideas, to which teachers may turn when they wish to improve the quality or vary the style of learning in their classrooms.
