Modular Course for Problem Solving & Financial Maths

(15th January 2013)

The Project Maths Development Team, is pleased to offer this modular course on Problem Solving & Financial Mathemathics .

The course will focus on new elements of the syllabus, methodology and provide student centered activities.

The course will cover topics from Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate syllabus.  

- For teachers of Junior and Senior Cycle mathematics (all levels)

- Participants will have practical advice on how to approach Problem Solving in the Classroom

- Problem Solving questions (and solutions) for Junior and Leaving Certificate students supplied, covering all Strands

- Applications of Geometric Sequences and Series with particular emphasis on Financial Maths

- 4 modules of 2.5 hours each

- Delivered by experienced maths teachers

- Attendance will be certified

Modular Course for Strands 3 & 4 (Number & Algebra)

The Project Maths Development Team, is pleased to offer this modular course on Strands 3 & 4: Number & Algebra. The course will focus on new elements of the syllabus, methodology and provide student centered activities. The course will cover topics from Junior Certificate and Leaving Certificate   syllabus.  

Modules (4 x 2.5 hours each)

1. Linear Patterns: Arithmetic Sequences & Series

2. Exploring properties of quadratic, cubic and exponential graphs.

3. Further exploration of patterns  using  Arithmetic & Geometric Series

4. Applications of Geometric Sequences.

Using ICT in Strands 3, 4 & 5

(29th September 2011)

The Project Maths Development Team, in conjunction with the NCTE, is running a series of workshops to support the integration of ICT into the Teaching and Learning of mathematics for strands 3, 4 & 5 of the Project Maths Syllabus. These modules focus on the use of software to teach geometry, trigonometry and calculus.

The course consists of 3 modules of 2.5 hours each. All participants will receive a certificate of completion.
